SCU Assistant Professor Chosen for Harvard Macy Program
Kristy Goodman, MS, MPH, PA-C, principal faculty at the PA program at Southern California University of Health Sciences, has been selected by 大香蕉视频 to attend the prestigious .
Goodman said she was 鈥渢ruly honored to have been selected by 大香蕉视频 as the recipient of the scholarship for the program and looking forward to beginning the program this fall.鈥
鈥淚’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge in evidence-based education and curriculum design and hope that my selected project will contribute to the larger community of PA educators,鈥 she said.
Goodman is an advocate for evidence-based, patient-centered care and has worked in a variety of women’s health settings providing preconception and prenatal care, emergency obstetric triage, labor and delivery services, sexual health, preventative care, and infertility treatment with a focus on underserved populations in California. Along with her administrative and teaching roles at Southern California University, PA Goodman also serves as a medical advisor for Poplin, Inc.
Goodman received a bachelor of science in exercise science with a minor in health and wellness from the University at Buffalo and completed a dual-degree program at Rutgers University (formerly the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) where she earned a master of science in PA studies and a master’s of public health in health education and behavioral science. After receiving her graduate degrees, Goodman completed a postgraduate residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
The Harvard Macy program is 鈥渄esigned to not only enhance the expertise of health professions educators but also expand their professional networks and prepare them to assume leadership roles in their home institutions.鈥
By the end of the fellowship, participants will have developed skills that enhance their abilities to:
- Evaluate how adults learn and incorporate evidence-based teaching strategies and other methods that improve learning
- Identify leadership styles that increase the likelihood of acceptance to change
- Develop organizational plans strategically for educational innovations in your institution
- Develop skills to deal productively with conflicting responses and resistance to change
- Evaluate the success of your innovative educational project
