Assessment Technical Issues & Fixes

Our team is working diligently on software issues impacting our assessments. Below you can find the latest updates to the Assessment Center, and details on the issues we have resolved and are currently working on. As always, if you have further questions, please feel free to reach out to exams@大香蕉视频online.org.

Assessment Updates

Recognizing the critical nature of clear communication, we are excited to announce that we have revised and updated our email templates, which can be used and/or adapted by program faculty and staff to communicate with students about instructions for exam day.

There is a separate template for each delivery type. Each message template has areas for customization based on your program鈥檚 exam administration process, and you can adapt them however you like as long as the critical instructions and policies are included.

The following email templates have been updated:

  • In-Person With SecureClient Exam Details 鈥 Reminder before test day.
  • In-Person Without SecureClient Exam Details 鈥 Reminder before test day.
  • Unproctored Exam Details 鈥 Reminder before test day.
  • Third-Party Remote Proctored Exam Details 鈥 Reminder before the beginning of the test date range.
  • Program Remote Proctored Exam Details 鈥 Reminder before the beginning of the test date range.

Updated versions of the documents can be found here under Templates for Student Emails, along with additional templates to help prepare your students for using the 大香蕉视频 Assessment Center.

Using lockdown browsers to administer exams requires extensive integration between the lockdown software and the device it is installed on. In general, software is tested only on the two most recent versions of an operating system, meaning each lockdown browser update is only guaranteed to be compatible with up-to-date software. It may work with older versions but is not guaranteed.

The minimum specifications for SecureClient are listed on the . If students do not know the specifications of their computers, see the more general specifications below for a guideline. You can also use this guidance to instruct students who will be entering your program or taking 大香蕉视频 Assessment exams for the first time.

PCs
We recommend using devices running Windows 11. Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10 after October 14, 2025, and our developers will follow suit. Although the software will work on Windows 10 devices, updates and support will be limited. But ensuring the device is running Windows 11 and is updated regularly will ensure compatibility.

Macs
Due to recent issues discovered with Assessment Mode, we recommend that students use only Macs that can run macOS Sequoia 15.4 at minimum. This operating system is with Macs from 2018 and later. Older devices that cannot be upgraded may have issues with Assessment Mode failing in their exam, causing disruption. We recommend that you remind students to update to Sequoia 15.4 or later versions before their next exam or make alternative device arrangements if needed.

iPads
As with other operating systems, follow the two-version iOS operating system rule for iPads. More important for iPads is the screen size 鈥 iPad Minis or smaller sized devices are too small to meet the minimum requirements, because our exams include images that require a standard size to deliver fair assessment. Additionally, students requiring the ability to highlight stem text or strike through answer options should not use iPad.

Requiring students to have devices meeting these specifications鈥攐r having devices on hand for students who are unable to secure such devices鈥攚ill ensure the security of exams and the ability to get support in case of any issues.

The Assessment Center offers flexible examination administration options to accommodate diverse program needs.听Need help deciding the best delivery method for your program?聽.

For Mac users, recurrent SecureClient crashes may cause significant disruption for some students. Although a number of measures are in place to mitigate the impact of this issue, one thing you can encourage students to do can help significantly: Force Quit apps running in the background.

Apps running in the background can cause a SecureClient crash when they take up excessive processing space. If a student has recurrent crashes during SecureClient exams, instruct them to fully quit any apps with a dot below the icon in their dock. There are two ways to fully quit these apps that are not needed during an exam:

  1. Right click on the app in the Dock and select Quit from the dropdown.
  2. In the Apple menu in the upper left, select Force Quit and then quit each unnecessary app one by one. This includes internet browsers, messaging apps, word processing tools, study materials, and anything other than SecureClient.

As we near the end of the semester, many programs may be providing students with PACKRAT exams to prepare for finals or PANCE. How should programs handle students who cannot take a scheduled exam?

While an In-Person exam is scheduled with a specific start time, a student may still begin the exam until 11:59 p.m. ET if the event is delayed.

However, if the student cannot take it on the scheduled calendar date (In-Person) or within the scheduled date range (Unproctored and Remote Proctored), cancel the exam event after being informed of the delay.

This can be done by any faculty or staff with Assessment Hub User permissions by going to Assessment Center > Assessment Hub > Scheduling > Exam Schedule. Once filtered to the applicable Graduation Year and Exam, select Cancel from the corresponding row of the student鈥檚 exam you wish to cancel. When the exam is cancelled on this page, the exam credit is returned to the program鈥檚 available balance for future use.

Please note if an exam is not cancelled within the scheduled calendar day or date range, the system will automatically void the event and the credit does not return to the program鈥檚 balance. If your program is unable to cancel the exam event and the system automatically voids it, please contact聽exams@paeaonline.org聽for additional assistance.
