Summary
The Ursuline College Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions invites applications for a full-time faculty position (Assistant/Associate Professor) in the Physician Assistant (PA) Program. The position is a 12-month non-tenure track appointment available immediately. Position reports to PA Program Director.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility is to assist with the implementation, evaluation, and revision of the didactic and clinical curriculum. The individual will be responsible for presenting lectures and laboratory instruction, developing and grading examinations and assignments, and recruiting guest lecturers. They will also be actively involved with student advising, admissions, new student orientation, faculty meetings or committees, accreditation, and scholarly activity. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Course direct specific didactic courses as assigned by Program Director.
Participate in academic advising of PA students.
Participate in student applicant admissions, student interviewing, and student selection.
Participate in student evaluation by grading written assignments, written examinations, OSCEs, practical skill competencies, and oral presentations.
Participate in the ARC-PA accreditation activities, self-study, process, and site visits.
Participate in simulation activities in the program.
Review the mission, program goals, and program competencies annually with the program team.
Participate in student remediation activities.
Participate in program self-assessment, data collection, and program analysis.
Maintain NCCPA certification and licensure in the state of Ohio.
Participate in appropriate local, state, and national physician assistant educational and professional associations.
Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity to be a role model for physician assistant students.
Agree not to participate as a medical provider for students enrolled in the PA program.
Active involvement in community service and/or service learning associated with the Physician Assistant program.
Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service activities as defined in the Ursuline College Faculty Handbook.
Facilitate curriculum enhancement and implement curricular improvements.
Assess textbooks and other materials used in the program.
Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications
Nationally certified (NCCPA) physician assistant
Must hold (or could obtain) a current, valid, unrestricted, and unqualified license to practice medicine as physician assistant in the state of Ohio and s/he may not hold any license that is restricted or qualified in any manner.
Minimum of a masterâs degree
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong critical thinking, organization, and problem-solving skills
Proficient written and verbal language skills
Strong quantitative and analytic skills
Minimum of at least three years of clinical experience as a practicing PA. Preference given to candidates with additional clinical experience.
Teaching experience in physician assistant education strongly preferred but not required.
Experience working in an inclusive community.
Strong commitment to fulfill the mission statement of the department, college, and university.
