Position Summary:

The Director of Curriculum Innovation and Evaluation reports directly to the Program Director and is responsible for overseeing curriculum development and implementation, teaching methodologies, and ensuring continuous data management, analysis and reporting for compliance to all ARC-PA, 大香蕉视频 and regional accreditation standards.

The Director of Curriculum Innovation and Evaluation is a key member of the leadership team and in concert with the Program Director supports all curricular, assessment, and instructional aspects of the Physician Assistant Program. Initial duties will include the ongoing preparation for the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) provisional accreditation site visits. Other duties include teaching, scholarship, academic advising, service, admissions, and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the MSM Mission. This is a non-tenure track position, eligible for multi-year appointment. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will operate within the MSM framework of lifelong learning through innovative teaching, learner-centered curricula, collaborative scholarship, and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

1. Support program director with accreditation documentation and problem-solving activities related to the didactic and clinical curriculum.

2. Identify and support the implementation of innovative medical education pedagogies and methodologies.

3. Review, revise, and assist in the development of programmatic instruments including reports and surveys.

4. Assist in developing a semester-by-semester on-going analysis of outcome assessment for core didactic and clinical courses to program director in concert with MSM Office of Educational Outcomes and core PA didactic faculty.

5. Assist the implementation, review and evaluation of ongoing curriculum evaluation to maintain program expectations and support accreditation compliance.

6. Assist in a comprehensive evaluation process for the physician assistant program, ensuring there are valid and reliable measures to assess student achievement of program objectives/competencies, course reviews, faculty teaching and programmatic effectiveness.

7. Obtains and utilizes data from a variety of sources including internal and external benchmarking, research findings and outcomes data.

8. Assist in the admission, success, remediation, and retention of physician assistant students during the didactic and clinical educational training.

9. Teach, evaluate, and advise didactic and clinical physician assistant students.

10. Serve on committees and subcommittees related to education and curriculum and serve as a resource to other committees as necessary.

11. Engage regularly with students/student representatives to provide a participatory forum for students to voice educational issues and provide ongoing feedback.

12. Monitor and report regional, national and international trends in physician assistant education.

13. Performs other duties as assigned by the program director and or his/her designee.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program.

2. Master’s degree or higher. (doctorate preferred)

3. Current NCCPA certification and eligible for licensure in Georgia.

4. Demonstrated commitment to MSM’s Mission to lead the creation and advancement of health equity.

5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in complex interdisciplinary and interprofessional settings.

6. Demonstrated ability to engage, support and lead diverse groups.

7. Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical or classroom instruction.

8. Minimum 3 years of experience as a physician assistant.

9. Expertise in pedagogy, learning and assessment, and demonstrated

knowledge of and commitment to current trends in physician assistant 

education.

10. Demonstrated success in working with faculty, administrators, students and staff within a higher education learning community.

11. Passion for and commitment to physician assistant education for purposes of optimizing patient outcomes.

Non-PA Faculty Candidates:

In lieu of PA teaching experience and the required PA certification, candidates must demonstrate clinical or classroom teaching in the specified field of study.
